C Lombok, NTB (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) rode a custom metallic green motorbike to the Mandalika Circuit in Central Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, on Thursday, at around 10 a.m. Central Indonesian Standard Time (WITA).

The head of state departed for the province from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base aboard the Indonesia 1 Presidential Airplane at around 7 a.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB).

After arriving at the Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Lombok International Airport (BIL) at around 9:50 a.m. WITA, Jokowi reviewed the readiness of the airport’s facilities along with several local government officials.

From the airport, the president rode the motorcycle to the circuit through the Mandalika-BIL Bypass Road to simulate the arrival of MotoGP spectators.

President Jokowi is scheduled to stop at several locations to check the supporting infrastructure for the 2022 MotoGP, such as circuit facilities, roads, and lodging.

"President Jokowi will conduction a simulation replicating the arrival of MotoGP spectators, starting from arriving at the airport, passing the road to the circuit, visiting the PCR test booth, exchanging the entry ticket, and entering the spectators stands," Head of Central Lombok District Lalu Pathul Bahri remarked.

Jokowi wore a limited-edition jacket themed "Indonesia’s G20 Presidency" while riding the motorcycle.

On his social media account, the president said the jacket he had worn was domestically produced.

After visiting the circuit, he is scheduled to launch the Tourism State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Holding called InJourney at the Kuta Mandalika Beach, Central Lombok District, NTB Province.

Furthermore, Jokowi is scheduled to hold a limited meeting and review preparations for the involvement of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the 2022 MotoGP at the Mandalika Bazaar, Central Lombok District, NTB Province.

Amid the visit, the president was accompanied by First Lady Iriana, Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar, and field coordinator for the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP Air Marshal (Ret.) Hadi Tjahjanto.
