Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia reported 1,745 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with Jakarta reporting the highest number of daily positive cases at 1,012, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force informed.

Of the total cases, 1,458 involved local transmission and 287 were imported cases, the task force said in a statement released on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, 504 patients recovered from the COVID-19 and nine others succumbed to the infection.

Since the first confirmed COVID-19 case was detected in Indonesia in March 2020, the country has recorded 4,275,528 cases, with 4,120,540 patients recovering and 144,192 patients dying of the infection.

According to the task force, there were 10,796 active cases or patients receiving treatment and conducting self-isolation as of Wednesday, an increase of 1,232 compared to the day before.

The number of suspected COVID-19 cases was recorded at 5,814 and the number of specimens examined at laboratories across Indonesia was pegged at 227,860. The specimens were obtained from 152,016 people, the task force said.

Meanwhile, the total number of tested specimens reached 68,201,218, it reported. They were obtained from 46,043,177 people since 2020, it added.

The task force said the daily national positivity rate stood at 1.26 percent for the specimen category and 1.15 percent for the human category.

Among the 34 provinces in the country, Jakarta reported the highest tally of COVID-19 daily cases at 1,012 on Wednesday, followed by West Java (324), Banten (208), East Java (49), and Central Java (29).
