Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin distributed social assistance comprising nine staple goods and school essentials to earthquake victims in Banten on Thursday.



The assistance was given directly by Amin during his visit to Munjul village, Pandeglang District, Banten, one of the locations affected by the earthquake.



"I ask everyone to be patient. The government is still thinking about the solution. Please continue to pursue education even though the disaster has just occurred. Do not be lazy," Amin told the community and children at the affected location.

Based on information from the press, media, and information bureau (BPMI) of the Vice Presidential Secretariat, Amin symbolically presented one thousand packages of basic necessities and 500 packages of school equipment to 10 disaster victims.



He also interacted with the local community regarding conditions following the 6.6-magnitude earthquake on January 14, 2022.



One of the residents, Ine Supartini, whose house was damaged in the quake, said the government had quickly helped affected residents.



"Not long after the earthquake occurred, the Ministry of Social Affairs immediately came here to set up a tent for residents whose houses were damaged," Supartini informed.

She further said she hoped that the government would help her and the surrounding community to rebuild their homes.



"We want this house to be rebuilt. We need a house to sleep in. For now, we are still sleeping in a tent or at a neighbor's house," she added.



Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini; head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General Suharyanto; Deputy Governor of Banten, Andika Hazrumy; and head of Pandeglang district, Irna Narulita, accompanied the President during his visit.
