Public services are activities carried out to fulfill the service demand in accordance with the law
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Law and Human Rights Ministry has issued the Law and Human Rights Ministerial Regulation No. 2 of 2022 on Human Rights-based Public Services (P2HAM).

Human rights-based public services are aimed at bolstering the quality of services provided by all work units within the ministry's environment, Law and Human Rights Deputy Minister Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej said here on Monday.

"Public services are activities carried out to fulfill the service demand in accordance with the law," he noted.

Article 28 I point (4) of the 1945 Constitution states that human rights protection, advancement, enforcement, and fulfillment is the nation's duty, especially the government's, he added.

This means that one of the state's obligations is to provide services to all citizens to fulfill their basic rights and needs within the framework of public services, he said.

To build the people's trust, public service officials should carry out their duty in line with people's expectations, Hiariej added.

This is a form of upholding the rights and obligations of all citizens for the realization of the state's responsibility in carrying out public services, he said.

In general, every citizen has the right to receive administrative services from public service providers, he noted.

"This has to be provided to the people in an efficient and effective manner," the deputy minister said.

To meet the need and satisfaction of service receivers, officials must adhere to human rights principles, he added.

The implementation of P2HAM has begun within government institutions, specifically in all of the work units in the ministry, he informed.

Hiariej said he expected the regulation to ensure the provision of services to vulnerable groups, such as people with disabilities, the elderly, women, and children.
