The cooperation was outlined in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Youth and Sports Minister, Zainudin Amali, and PWI Chief Atal Sembiring Depari, during the commemoration of National Press Day 2022 in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, on Wednesday.
Amali stated that the cooperation was deemed necessary to disseminate information on the Grand Design of National Sports at the regional level in order to broaden the scope of publication.
"Thus, the PWI central executive board becomes a partner of the Youth and Sports Ministry to disseminate information on the Grand Design of National Sports. We do not want Presidential Decree No. 86 of 2021 to only be known at the central level, but we want this to reach the provincial and district and city levels," the minister affirmed in a press release received on Wednesday.
“Journalists have an extensive reach. I agree with the PWI general chairperson to cooperate in the dissemination of information on the Grand Design of National Sports. We will also explore the potential of regional sports. Our target is clearly for the Olympics and not the Asian Games or the SEA Games," he elaborated.
Depari expressed his readiness to collaborate with the government to realize the program's success. He agreed on the importance of the great design as a blueprint to drive sports achievements in the country.
“To get outstanding athletes of (great) quality, there must be an effort to design it. This Grand Design of National Sports is the right effort as the start of long-term coaching," he concluded.
