Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have seized 1.55 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and arrested a suspected trafficker in North Jakarta.



"The suspect, identified by his initials as PJ (33), confessed to receiving 2 kilograms of crystal meth to be circulated in Pluit, North Jakarta. Police personnel seized 1.5 kilograms of crystal meth while arresting him," spokesperson for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Dedi Suhatmi, said in a written statement released here on Wednesday.



The police arrested PJ after receiving a tip from the public about alleged drug abuse in Pluit, he added.



Police officials were sent to the scene on Thursday (February 2, 2022), he said.

They seized a bag containing 15 grams of crystal meth from PJ, he added. Later, during a search at the suspect's home in Pluit, North Jakarta, they found 900 grams of crystal meth and several small packages of crystal meth, he informed.



In total, police seized 1,550 grams of crystal meth and a digital scale, he said.

The police then took PJ to the drug investigation unit at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further investigation.



"The suspect, PJ has been engaged in drug trafficking for one year. The case is being investigated to disclose crystal meth supply network," Suhatmi said.
