Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has dispatched a team to distribute 1.5 million masks at 135 locations in Jakarta over the next three days.



The main secretary of the BNPB, Lilik Kurniawan, said the mask distribution is part of the joint responsibility of the agency and the COVID-19 Task Force.



The activity was specifically instructed by President Joko Widodo to reinforce adherence to the health protocols, particularly the use of masks, he informed in a press release here on Friday.

Kurniawan requested the dispatched team members to perform actions that offer tangible benefits to the community.



He also emphasized that the distribution of masks was expected to reduce the rate of COVID-19 transmission, thereby protecting the public from the virus.



On Friday, the team carried out mask distribution in Galur, Johar Baru, Kampung Rawa, Tanah Tinggi, Cikini, Gondangdia, Kebon Sirih, Menteng, Cengkareng Barat, Paseban, Senen, Kebon Kacang, Kebon Melati, Petamburan, Cempaka Baru, Cipedak, Jagakarsa, Lenteng Agung, and Srengseng Sawah, he informed.

On Saturday (February 12, 2022), the team will target Pegangsaan, North Gunung Sahari, Karang Anyar, Kartini, South Mangga Dua, Pasar Baru, Cideng, Duri Pulo, East Cengkareng, Bendungan Hilir, Gelora, South Gunung Sahari, Harapan Mulya, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, West Tanjung, North Cipete, North Gandaria, Gunung, North Kebayoran Lama, Pondok Pinang, Bangka, West Kuningan, Mampang Prapatan, Pela Mampang, and Tegal Parang, he said.



On Sunday (February 13), the masks will be handed out in Gambir, Kebon Kelapa, South Petojo, North Petojo, Bungur, Kenari, Kramat, Kwitang, Duri Kosambi, Kampung Bali, Karet Tengsin, Serdang, Batu Wells, Utan Panjang areas, among others. Ciganjur, Kramat Pela, Melawai, Petogongan, and Pulo, he added.
