The government's DIM for the sexual violence bill text that we have received from the House of Representatives (DPR) at the end of last month has been completed
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government's problem inventory list (IDM) for the sexual violence bill (RUU TPKS) has been completed, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, has informed.

"The government's DIM for the sexual violence bill text that we have received from the House of Representatives (DPR) at the end of last month has been completed," she said at a press conference on the 'Progress of Drafting the DIM of the RUU TPKS by the Government ' on Friday.

Speaking from the State Secretariat Ministry's office on Friday, she said that the four ministers who have been appointed to supervise the discussion of the RUU TPKS in the DPR - the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, the Minister of Law and Human Rights, the Minister of Social Affairs, and the Minister of Home Affairs - jointly signed the approval for the DIM of the RUU TPKS.

The RUU TPKS must be immediately passed into law considering the high number of sexual violence cases in the country, whose handling requires a special legal umbrella, Puspayoga emphasized.

The data on the incidence of sexual violence refers to the results of the 2021 National Women's Life Experiences Survey (SPHPN), the 2021 National Survey of Child and Adolescent Life Experiences (SNPHAR), reports from the Online Information System for Women and Children (Simphony PPA), reports from the National Commission on Violence against Women (Komnas Perempuan), and reports from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), she said.

"It is clear that the rate of sexual violence, especially against women and children, is still very high. We are aware of the urgent need for a regulation that specifically handles sexual violence. For that reason, the ratification of this bill cannot be postponed again because basically, the preparation of the RUU TPKS has met the requirements from philosophical, sociological, and juridical perspectives," she added.

The DPR approved the RUU TPKS as a DPR initiative bill at a plenary session on January 18, 2022.
