There is a problem concerning the request to use the PeduliLindungi application
Jakarta (ANTARA) - There are still many business places in Jakarta that are facing issues accessing the COVID-19 tracking application PeduliLindungi, whose use has been mandated during public activity restriction (PPKM) enforcement, Jakarta's Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) has said.

"There are several places that are encountering difficulties. There is a problem concerning the request to use the PeduliLindungi application," Jakarta Satpol PP head Arifin said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday.

According to Arifin, the agency officials made this observation based on health protocol monitoring at several business locations where installing the application has been made compulsory.

"This became one of the violation findings during the PPKM in Jakarta," he said.

The agency has the authority to provide PeduliLindungi QR codes that can respond faster because the entrepreneurs would also like to install QR codes, he added.

The agency also found that entrepreneurs were not committed to utilizing the application to monitor visitors, he informed.

"There are still many entrepreneurs who are letting visitors enter without scanning PeduliLindungi application," Arifin said.

While the application was available, only half the visitors scanned it, he added.

Thus, there was no way to confirm whether the number of visitors exceeded the capacity that has been set, he pointed out.

Other violations involved entrepreneurs keeping businesses open outside the permitted operational hours, he informed. Business places are only allowed to remain open until 9 p.m. local time during Level 3 PPKM enforcement, he said.

"We still found business places that exceed the operational hours. Activities that are allowed until 12 a.m. also exceed their hours," he noted.

The agency will continue to monitor health protocols to stem the spread of the Omicron variant, he affirmed.

"The Omicron variant has caused us to raise our level (PPKM) to three," he remarked.

"This should be watched out for by bolstering health protocols and also 5Ms (wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining social distance, reducing mobility, avoiding crowds)," he added.
