"For today's update, while referring to the hospitals' maximum capacity (19,695 beds), the BOR in West Java is at 25.91 percent," Ulum noted here on Thursday.
The West Java provincial government has readied 23 isolation centers as an precautionary measure against the spike in COVID-19 cases, he affirmed.
Although the government has readied facilities and infrastructure to tackle the COVID-19 spike, the deputy governor still urged the public to continue to comply with health protocols.
The deputy governor attributed the increase in COVID-19 cases in the past week to negligence on the part of the people.
To this end, he urged district heads and mayors as well as the task force in all regions in the province to actively disseminate information on the health protocols and vaccinations apart from intensifying COVID-19 testing.

"The reason for the increase in COVID-19 cases is due to the negligence of the community, perhaps also the task force and local government. Maybe people are getting bored with the current situation, but the provincial government, city governments, district governments, and the task force will not get tired in handling COVID-19 cases," he remarked.
Speaking in connection with vaccinations, Ulum pointed to a discrepancy in data in West Java between the provincial government and district and city governments.
"For instance, in our (provincial government's) data, Cianjur District has only reached 50 percent (vaccination coverage). Turns out that it has surpassed 80 percent (based on the district government's data)," he explained.
Earlier, 17 districts and cities in West Java had re-implemented level 3 of public activity restrictions (PPKM). Meanwhile, nine districts and cities are implementing level 2 of PPKM and Pangandaran District is the only region in the province that is implementing level 1 of PPKM.
