"All investment has risk, but risk-wise, it can be said that gold as an investment is a safe instrument. It depends on how much we want to invest, our goals, and our expectations," an official with Pegadaian's marketing division, Luh Putu Andarini, explained here on Friday.
Investment in gold is rather secure because its price is stable and tends to rise, she said. Moreover, the risks of investing in gold are also relatively small compared to other types of investments, she added.
"Why is gold safe? If compared to other instruments, gold has maintained a stable and increasing price since 30 years ago," she highlighted.
Investing in gold is deemed suitable for Millennials and Gen Zs, as gold can function as a contingency saving for unexpected expenses, she said. Nevertheless, young people must be disciplined and consistent in investing, she added.
"Gold fits Millennials and Gen Zs as it can become emergency fund, as gold's liquidity is very high and (gold pawning) can be assisted through the Pegadaian Digital (app)," she said.

"Anytime someone needs money, they can pawn their gold through Pegadaian's program 'Gadai Tabungan Emas,'" she added.
"The important thing is to know who we are investing with. The two keys are discipline and consistency. That's it," she remarked.
Andarini also said that to make an investment, Millennials and Gen Zs do not need to wait to have a substantial income. Through the Pegadaian Digital application, they can already start investing with Rp10 thousand, that is, less than one American dollar, she highlighted.
"Young people who want to invest in gold but only after they have a lot of money, it is not necessarily right," she remarked.
