As of March 1, 2022, there are 807 new researchers
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Some 807 researchers from 15 ministries or institutions were transferred to serve as employees of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) for the second batch.

"As of March 1, 2022, there are 807 new researchers," BRIN's Head, Laksana Tri Handoko, noted at the event for handover of the decision letter from National Civil Service Agency's (BKN's) Head Bima Haria Wibisana to BRIN's head for transfer of the second batch of employees here on Wednesday.

Researchers that joined BRIN in the second batch came from 15 ministries or institutions.

These institutions comprised the Health Ministry; Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry; Environment and Forestry Ministry; Geospacial Information Agency; National Population and Family Planning Agency; and House of Representatives' General Secretariat.

In addition, those joining the BRIN came from the Religious Affairs Ministry, Attorney General's Office, Home Affairs Ministry, Law and Human Rights Ministry, Communication and Informatics Ministry, Defense Ministry, Agriculture Ministry, Social Affairs Ministry, and Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.

With 807 researchers being added to the BRIN, the number of researchers from 33 ministries or institutions that officially joined the BRIN totaled 1,896.

In addition, some one thousand researchers await the transfer process on the next batch to BRIN.

The first batch of researchers transferred from ministries or institutions to BRIN was conducted on December 16, 2021, comprising 1,089 researchers from 28 ministries or institutions.

This transfer of human resources is a follow up to Article 65 of Presidential Regulation No. 78 of 2021, and it is conducted for a maximum of one year since the regulation was issued on August 24, 2021.

However, the transfer process of all researchers to BRIN is expected to be completed earlier than the target.

Handoko noted that the integration process can proceed well due to support from the BKN, State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, and State Secretariat Ministry.

"I would also like to extend thanks for the cooperation of the leadership at the ministries and institutions in realizing a better research ecosystem in Indonesia and for supporting this integration process," he remarked.

BKN Head Bima Haria Wibisana affirmed that with the transfer of researchers, most of them were under BRIN's authority and, as a result, the researchers' performance is fully under BRIN's coordination.

Wibisana expects that the researchers would be able to optimize their productivity and quality after joining BRIN.
