"In a bid to accelerate stunting reduction, in the near future, the BKKBN will cooperate with the Indonesian Chancellor Forum on the Kedaireka matching fun platform," acting deputy for population control at the BKKBN, Dwi Listyawardani, said at the Coordination Meeting for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction, which was accessed online here on Wednesday.
The collaboration would later utilize the platform called "Kedaireka" owned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and utilize funds from the State Budget (APBN), she informed.
All the activities in the stunting reduction program will be integrated and adjusted to the same targets, such as regional governments and residents in rural areas, she said.
The activities will include Healthy Kitchen to Handle Stunting (Dashat) and involve strengthening Communication, Information, and Education (KIE) efforts carried out by universities to improve community understanding of stunting, she added.
"There are also mentoring programs carried out by students for the community, for example, KIE, empowerment programs, nutritional intervention programs, providing additional foods, and others," she expounded.
The acting deputy said that later, Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta will serve as a coordinator for more than 300 universities that will assist families in 318 districts and cities, or about 70 percent of the total districts and cities in Indonesia, she said.
Even though universities will help in assisting families, support from the private sector is needed so that all the activities can run optimally, she added.
The BKKBN now only has two years to reduce Indonesia's stunting rate from 24.4 percent to 14 percent. The 2024 target is mandated in Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 regarding the acceleration of stunting reduction.
