Together, we must increase our capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to pandemics effectively in a highly coordinated manner
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has encouraged the global community to increase its capacity to prevent, detect, and address the pandemic situation in an effective manner.

"Together, we must increase our capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to pandemics effectively in a highly coordinated manner," Minister Sadikin remarked at the T20 event on Tuesday.

An open and trusted genomic data-sharing platform could be optimized in order to increase the capacity.

Sadikin highlighted Indonesia's commitment to three priority areas, with the first being imploring countries in the world to create a global health system, synergizing finance to encourage resilience, and implementing essential medical countermeasures, as well as improving the global health system.

The second area of focus is conducting global harmonization in the application of standard protocols aimed at reviving global mobility.

“It is very important to ensure that comprehensive standard health protocols are in place to save the world from disease outbreaks in future. We must realize that modern-day problems require innovative solutions,” he expounded.

Hence, it was necessary to synchronize the global health system as well as international travel protocol standards that enable rapid social and economic recovery.

The third priority is to expedite global research and manufacturing centers for pandemics, prevention, preparedness, and response to pandemics. This demands a new paradigm on the health system.

"We need to expedite the capacity of global research and manufacturing assistance (in order to meet those ends)," he concluded.
