Jakarta (ANTARA) - Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Bintang Puspayoga has welcomed the issuance of the Social Affairs Minister's Circular Letter Number 2 of 2022 regarding the Security and Protection of Children in Various Environments.

"The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection lauds the issuance of Social Affairs Minister's Circular Letter regarding the Security and Protection of Children which is hoped can be an effort to prevent violence against children which has recently escalated, including preventing exploitation, neglect, and discrimination of children," she said in a press statement received here on Wednesday.

The circular pushes commitment from all regional heads in provinces, districts, and cities to make efforts to protect children and prevent violence against them, she noted.

"This circular will ensure that every environment is a safe place for children," she said.

The minister emphasized that all regional heads have an essential and strategic role in ensuring that children are secure and protected from all forms of violence.

Puspayoga said she hoped that the circular would strengthen the commitment of regional heads toward child protection.

"It is hoped that the commitment of regional heads can be realized through various child protection policies and is in line with budget policies and efforts to increase the capacity of state apparatus with a gender perspective in order to create a child-friendly environment at home, at school, and in the community," she expounded.

She also stressed that the successful implementation of the circular can only be achieved with the support of all parties, including local officials and community organizations.

"Togetherness and cooperation of all parties are the main keys in providing protection for children. If children get their rights and the best environment to grow and develop optimally, we are optimistic that we can realize a Child-friendly Indonesia and the 2045 Golden Generation as a gift for the 100th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence Day," she remarked.
