"This is a momentum for Indonesia as host to push for a collective effort of the world parliaments to solve various global issues, concerning crises in various fields," Juwaini said here on Sunday.
Among the crises being faced by countries in the world concern economy, COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, energy, equality and justice, and humanitarian issues.
"Parliaments as representatives of the people, must play strategic roles in voicing conscience to make a peaceful, just and prosperous world," he said.
Human right issues and world peace are also crucial to be discussed in the meeting of IPU.
"It concerns the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which is affecting humanity, claiming lives and creating refugees, which are unavoidable," he said.
IPU will organize its 144th Assembly and related meetings in Nusa Dua, Bali, on March 20-24, 2022.
All IPU statutory bodies, including the Governing Council, Standing Committees, Committees on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians and on Middle East Questions, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the Forum of Young MPs, will convene during this Assembly.
The General Debate will provide a platform for delegates to deliberate, exchange views and seek to galvanize parliamentary action to address the climate emergency.
The theme of the 144th Assembly of IPU is : Getting to Zero: Mobilizing Parliament to Act on Climate Change.
The 143rd Assembly of IPU was held in Madrid, Spain, in November 2021, and attended by some 1,200 delegates from 179 nations.
