However, so far, no area in the Java and Bali regions is assessed to be able to implement Level 1 of PPKM.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The number of regions enforcing Level 3 of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) decreased significantly according to the latest Home Affairs Minister's Instruction (Inmendagri) that came into effect on Tuesday.

The extension of the enforcement of PPKM for the Java and Bali regions has been regulated by Inmendagri Number 16 of 2022 that is in effect on March 15-21, 2022, Director General of Regional Administration of the Home Affairs Ministry Safrizal Z.A. stated.

“The number of areas that enforce Level 3 of PPKM declined, from 84 regions to 66 regions (in the Java and Bali regions)," he noted through an electronic message here on Tuesday.

Hence, the areas that enforce Level 2 of PPKM increased, from 37 regions to 55 regions.

Meanwhile, the number of areas that implement Level 4 of PPKM remained unchanged at seven as compared to the previous regulation.

"However, so far, no area in the Java and Bali regions is assessed to be able to implement Level 1 of PPKM," he remarked.

The Home Affairs Ministry had re-evaluated the implementation of PPKM across Indonesia.

Safrizal stated that based on the evaluation, the situation in Indonesia showed an improving trend since the number of COVID-19 daily additional confirmed cases had decreased and the economy had started to revive in various regions due to the relaxation policy implemented by the government.

Meanwhile, the extension of PPKM in areas outside the Java and Bali regions is regulated in Inmendagri Number 17 of 2022 that takes effect on March 15-28, 2022.

"Currently, the areas outside the Java and Bali regions also have better conditions, as the level of PPKM of several districts and cities dropped, from Level 3 to Level 2," the director general pointed out.

Safrizal remarked that the number of regions that enforce Level 3 of PPKM had significantly decreased, from 320 to 200.

Otherwise, the number of regions that implement Level 2 of PPKM increased, from 63 to 168.

Level 1 of PPKM is enforced in 18 regions. Earlier, only three areas outside the Java and Bali regions implemented Level 1 of PPKM.
