The quake's epicenter was located at 1.93 degrees southern latitude and 133.32 degrees eastern longitude, some two km southwest of Teluk Bintuni and at a depth of 10 km, the agency reported here on Saturday.
The tremors were felt at Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale III-IV in Teluk Bintuni and the surrounding areas.

The agency urged the residents of Teluk Bentani to remain alert to aftershocks.
Indonesia sits on the Ring of Fire, also known as the Circum-Pacific Belt or Pacific Ring of Fire, a place where most earthquakes occur.
