Bogor, W Java (ANTARA) - The Health Office of Bogor City, West Java Province, is revving up COVID-19 vaccinations before entering the 2022 Eid al-Fitr mudik (exodus) period.

Secretary of the Bogor Health Office Erna Nureana stated here on Friday that the administration of booster vaccine is conducted in keeping with the COVID-19 vaccine stocks.

She stated that the dissemination of information and booster vaccination services are provided with support from other institutions and agencies, including the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri).

According to the government's data, as of March 24, 2022, the booster dose has, so far, been administered to 142,091 residents, or 17.34 percent of Bogor City's targeted COVID-19 vaccine recipients, which is 819,444 residents.

Meanwhile, the number of residents that received the first vaccine dose was recorded at 849,200 people, or 103.63 percent of the target. Thereafter, the number of second dose recipients in the city has reached 747,197 or 91.18 percent of the target recipients.

Bogor City Police Chief Senior Commissioner Susatyo, concurrently serving as deputy head of Bogor City's COVID-19 Handling Task Force, stated that the Bogor City Police supported the city government to rev up vaccination services in the city.

The Bogor City Police deployed 1,050 personnel to assist in disseminating information on COVID-19 vaccination and to provide vaccination services at police headquarters, traditional markets, and other public places.

"We continue to encourage people to get a third vaccine or booster (dose). We do not wait but visit public places," he remarked.

As part of the efforts to boost community immunity against COVID-19, the Indonesian government rolled out a nationwide vaccination program on January 13, 2021, targeting 208,265,720 citizens.

According to data provided by the Health Ministry, as of March 25, 2022, nearly 195,533,337 Indonesians, or 93.89 percent of the targeted recipients, had received their first COVID-19 jab; 156,636,335, or 75.21 percent, had been fully vaccinated; and 18,393,956, or 8.83 percent, had received the booster shot.
