Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has urged women to become pioneers of good deeds and actively contribute ideas for the state's progress.

He made the appeal at the opening of the meeting of the Women, Youth, and Family Commission at the National Ulema Council in Jakarta on Saturday.

Amin said that the growth of a nation's civilization lies in its women, and it begins with the smallest group, namely the family.

As the era of Society 5.0 draws near, everyone is expected to be ready to face social challenges and problems by utilizing various innovations, he added.

According to the Vice President, women must take an active part by contributing their thoughts, ideas, and views on nation-building, as the strength of their perspective lies in sensitivity and social intelligence.

"Women must (tap into) their potential and improve their quality so that they create creativity, innovation, and constructive thinking in the perspective of gender equality in all aspects of people's lives," he remarked.

He stressed that the presence of women leaders in various development sectors deserves to be considered, including in building the nation's character.

"We need to continuously encourage more and more Indonesian women to occupy strategic positions and excel at the national and global levels," he implored.

The Vice President then urged everyone to participate in encouraging Muslim women to participate in various fields, including in decision-making, in order to offer tangible benefits to people.

"My hope is that this National Coordination Meeting can produce good quality thoughts and policy recommendations for the internal progress of the National Ulema Council itself, as well as for the nation and state," he added.
