Lebak (ANTARA) - A 4.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Rangkasbitung, Lebak District, Banten Province, on Sunday at 12:53 a.m. local time, according to information from the local disaster mitigation office.

"We have not received reports on damages owing to the earthquake having a magnitude of 4.8 with epicenter located in northwest of Rangkasbitung, Lebak, Agus Reza Faisal of the Lebak Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD) said here on Sunday.

The quake's epicenter was located at 6.56 degrees southern latitude and 106.06 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 134 km, and some 21 km northwest of Rangkasbitung. The tremor was felt at MMI (modified mercalli intensity) II in Malingping, Lebak.

Lepi (40), a local resident, said he felt the earthquake for few seconds and it was mild earthquake.

"We felt the earthquake at 4.8 magnitude, but it was not for long," he said.
