Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate views it important to currently forge global collaboration amid the wave of digitalization that has connected the world stronger than ever.

Through a press statement on Wednesday, Plate opined that economic digitalization has encouraged transformation within the ecosystem toward a behavior more oriented to data and creation of new economic value.

"This also pushes bigger connectivity between individuals and nations to ensure digital ecosystem sustainability driven toward the effort to create new economic value," he emphasized.

To this end, bolstering the role of digital connectivity in daily economic activities has become relevant during the post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery, Plate noted.

"In fact, the utilization of digital connectivity, digital skills, and digital literacy play the most foundational role," he remarked during the first meeting of the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

"This is specifically in preparing citizens to utilize the digital ecosystem in a productive, inclusive, empowering, and sustainable manner," he remarked.

Through the first DEWG meeting, the minister affirmed that the Indonesian government expects to hold constructive dialogue and discussion between developing and advanced nations concerning improving skills across all strata of society.

He lauded all the delegations that attended the first session of DEWG both virtually and physically.

The minister stated that this momentum can be utilized as a collective forum to continue the constructive discussion that began during the G20 DEWG's Workshop 1.

"I expect everyone to be in good health and high spirits," he remarked.

"I believe that the session to be held today and tomorrow will produce a beneficial discussion that will contribute toward DEWG's goal," he asserted.

Plate also believes that the first DEWG meeting can respond to various challenges and concerns surrounding the digital economy.

The minister expects that solutions can be formed through the beneficial exchange of viewpoints and collaboration for a better collective recovery.

"I hope for the best for the first DEWG meeting today," Plate remarked.
