The figure increased quite significantly as compared to 2021Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded that as many as 133 thousand merchants in Riau Islands Province have utilized the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) as of March 2022.
QRIS is the national QR code standard for facilitating payments using QR codes in Indonesia.
"The figure increased quite significantly as compared to 2021," BI Governor Perry Warjiyo stated virtually at the opening of Riau Islands' Proud of Indonesian Products National Movement (Gernas BBI), Proud to Travel in Indonesia campaign (BWI), and Gebyar Melayu Pesisir (GMP) programs here on Wednesday.
To this end, he invited the BI Representative Office in Riau Islands to expand the utilization of QRIS and BI-FAST in a bid to accelerate MSMEs' transaction process in the country.

Usually, he said, MSMEs need at least two days until the money from the sale is transferred to the account, but with BI-FAST, the money received by MSMEs will go directly to the account immediately.
The central bank also continues to expand the use of QRIS by targeting an additional 15 million merchants using QRIS in 2022. This figure increased from the previous year's target of 12 million merchants.
To this end, Warjiyo assessed that digital transformation also serves as a support for MSMEs in the country.
