Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) appealed to all components of society, ranging from NGOs to the business world and the media, to join in realizing women's empowerment and child protection.

"The government cannot work alone in realizing the five priority programs mandated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). We need the participation of the community to echo the existing policies," Acting Deputy for Community Participation at the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry, Indra Gunawan, noted in a press release on Friday.

To encourage community participation, the ministry has already issued PPPA Ministerial Regulation Number 13 of 2021 on Community Participation in the Sector of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection as a reference for provincial governments, district/city governments, and village governments to synergize in realizing women's empowerment and child protection.

Gunawan explained that community participation for women's empowerment and child protection can be facilitated by establishing a Puspa Forum (Public Participation for the Welfare of Women and Children) in accordance with their respective duties and authorities, at the central, provincial, and district/city levels.

The Puspa Forum is also expected to serve as a forum for stakeholders in solving various problems of women and children, he stated.

Gunawan affirmed that the synergy in Puspa forum to realize women's empowerment and child protection involved related parties, including village government/village officials, women and grassroots women's organizations, NGOs, mass organizations, children and children's forums, professional organizations, religious leaders and community leaders, assistants, volunteers to district/city governments, provincial governments, and central government.

"All parties need to make effort in building synergy and collaboration. Diversity and multi-discipline are important to see women and children's problems from various perspectives to provide more diverse solutions," he concluded.
