We all hope that the development will be smooth according to the plan and our expectationsTanjungpinang, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad and Anambas Islands District Head Abdul Haris met Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi to discuss the completion of national strategic projects in the province.
During the meeting, Ahmad noted that the Port of Kuala Maras and a port in Tarempa, Anambas Islands, will become strategic ports in the border area that could expedite inter-island connectivity in the province upon completion.
He also discussed the development of an integrated port in Natuna District with the minister.
"Our only purpose is to follow up on all national strategic projects that have been planned for Riau Islands Province. We all hope that the development will be smooth according to the plan and our expectations," Ahmad stated after the meeting with Sumadi in Jakarta, as quoted from a press statement published by the province's Communication and Informatics Office on Thursday.

The governor also encouraged prompt completion of national strategic projects in Serasan region, Natuna District, that includes the construction of a border post funded by the state budget.
"Not only national strategic projects, but we also discuss some projects in Natuna that are funded by the provincial authority, including the road construction in Tali Asuh region (during the meeting)," he stated.
The governor then discussed conditions of anchoring regions in Riau Strait and Tanjung Berakit for which management would be handed over to the provincial authority, and regions have been demarcated by the central government.

"We have discussed those aspects with the transportation minister during the meeting. We must be tireless in following up national strategic projects in Riau Islands," Ahmad stated.
Meanwhile, Sumadi expressed his full support for the Riau Islands authority's effort to expedite national strategic projects in the province.
The minister also confirmed his upcoming working visit to the province to observe the development of Hang Nadim Airport in Batam and Busung Airport in Bintan.
"We will exert our efforts to realize national strategic projects in Riau Islands and meet everyone's expectations," he stated.
