Jakarta (ANTARA) - Consistent guidance for digital startups from the government is important to expedite national digital transformation, Informatics Application Director General at the Communication and Informatics Ministry Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan has said.

Upstream guidance encompasses searching for digital talents and mentoring them until they are ready to enter Indonesia's digital ecosystem, he noted during the Alumni Talks HUB.ID hybrid event here on Thursday.

Meanwhile, downstream guidance can be initiated through programs such as HUB.ID to help digital startups expand their business relationships with various parties.

These parties comprise stakeholders, related regulators, namely the ministries or institutions, as well as investors who can help develop the digital ecosystem.

The government also provides stimulus to encourage synergy, collaboration, and business cooperation between ministries, digital startups, and various stakeholders, Pangerapan informed.

This is done to accelerate digital transformation and build the sustainability of Indonesia's digital startup ecosystem, he explained.

"We cannot work alone. There has to be an active collaboration, contribution from the entire components of the nation," he remarked.

"Together, we can realize empowered, innovative, productive Indonesia toward advanced and connected Indonesia," he added.

In response, the ministry's business matchmaking coordinator, Luat Sihombing, said that HUB.ID is expected to help Indonesia's local startups by improving financing access and business cooperation.

Through the HUB.ID Program, the ministry's Informatics Application Directorate General is supporting business matchmaking by utilizing state-owned enterprises (SOEs), corporations, and the government's wide network.

"HUB.ID is a platform for Indonesia's digital startups who strive to grow into better and bigger startups from business scale, expand business collaboration opportunities, financing access, and expand Indonesia's market network," Sihombing said.

A number of startups within HUB.ID get support, guidance, and partnership opportunities, such as Dagangan, which seeks to reach regions from a logistical standpoint.
