Irfani and his team designed a platform that won in the Best Project Group category that required the participants to create a social innovation as a solution to accelerate the recovery process of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The platform is simply called Muda Calling. It is based on the philosophy as a forum for voicing the voices of youth in Indonesia related to public policy issues," Irfani noted in his statement on Saturday.
The challenge of the competition included creating an innovative idea that was unique and different among the over 200 participants.
"I represented my team to pitch ideas in front of the jury and one of them came from Harvard Medical School," he stated while speaking in reference to the Best Male Presenter category.
"In the process of delivering the materials, what set me apart from other participants was the process of delivering the logical flow of program formation, so that it became a unique value for me. Surprisingly, one of the participants was a master's degree student at the University of Glasgow," he added.
The IYS is an international conference attended by youngsters from various countries. He excelled among 200 participants from Palestine, Jordan, Mexico, Pakistan, Turkey, and Indonesia.
IYS aims to hone talented youth in various fields, shape youth leadership character, and build an existence in the international arena.
This year's theme of the IYS was “Development Response Plan of The Youth in Crisis Recovery”, while its five sub-themes were Economy, Education, Public Health, Mental Health, and Public Policy.
Irfani participated as a delegate, who competed in Public Policy.
