For nickel, we only sent raw materials, and now, we send semi-finished materials
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) advised young entrepreneurs to continue to hone their adaptive character to any unexpected changes in the situation, Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association's (BPP HIPMI's) Central Executive Board Head Mardani H. Maming stated.

According to Maming, President Jokowi advised that an adaptive character is important to see the Indonesian and global situation that continues to be plagued by unexpected situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"After COVID was about to improve, after that there was another war, many of which were unexpected, so he advised young entrepreneurs, who are members of HIPMI, to always adapt to unexpected situations," Maming noted in a press statement after an audience with President Jokowi at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday.

Mardani remarked that the president advised that one form of adaptive character was the courage to innovate and urged HIPMI to continue to play an active role, so that Indonesia's demographic bonus in 2030-2035 can be optimized.

"For nickel, we only sent raw materials, and now, we send semi-finished materials. It will continue for other minerals and absorb jobs for the Indonesian people,” he remarked.

On the other hand, HIPMI supported President Jokowi's directive that requested for 40 percent of the -- state budget, regional budget, or state-owned enterprises budget -- to be directed to buy products for local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Mardani claimed to have received assurances that the president would directly supervise the implementation of the policy.

"This will be welcomed positively by HIPMI administrators in the regions as well as entrepreneurs in Indonesia," he noted.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan earlier targeted domestic product spending (PDN) by the government through e-catalogs to be increased to Rp500 trillion this year, higher than the previous target of Rp400 trillion.

"Government spending on domestic products (PDN) in 2022 is targeted at Rp400 trillion, and we previously reported it to the president, if we can continue to increase it maybe to Rp500 trillion in April and be completed by May 31, then the figures on economic growth will be visible this year," Pandjaitan stated.

Pandjaitan explained that based on the calculation of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), if Rp400 trillion of the government spending was utilized domestically, then it would encourage economic growth of around 1.6 percent to 1.7 percent.

"The government estimates economic growth at around 5-5.2 percent this year. With the addition of one percent to 1.7 percent, our economic growth will be around six percent more," he stated.
