I appeal to the President (to help us) in obtaining diesel fuel conveniently, unlike the present situation (when the fuel is hard to get)
Cirebon, West Java (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) heard the aspirations and concerns of fishermen in Bandengan village, Cirebon district, West Java, during a working visit to the region on Wednesday.



The fishermen shared their concerns regarding the diesel fuel scarcity and river silting issues in the region and expressed the hope that the President would help them resolve the issues.



"I appeal to the President (to help us) in obtaining diesel fuel conveniently, unlike the present situation (when the fuel is hard to get)," Wandi, a fisherman from Bandengan village, Mundu sub-district, Cirebon district, said in Cirebon on Wednesday.



Diesel fuel is needed by the fishermen to run their fishing boats, which are the main source of livelihood for them and their families, he added.

Wanda said that after hearing him, the President promptly jotted down his complaint. The President promised the fishermen that a special petrol station will be developed in the region for them, he added.



Apart from the diesel fuel scarcity, the fishermen also raised the issue of river silting in the region, which makes it difficult to operate and moor boats.



"We have also informed the President about the river silting issue, and we hope the issue will be promptly addressed," Kustono, another fisherman from the region, said.



During his visit to Bandengan village, the President spent considerable time speaking with local fishermen to hear their aspirations and answer their concerns.

During his working visit, Widodo is also expected to present cooking oil and business capital cash assistance to street vendors and recipient families, as well as observe labor activities at the city's Lemahwungkuk sub-district.



After concluding his visit to Cirebon, he will continue to Brebes district, Central Java, to hand out cash assistance to recipients at the district's Tanjung and Bulakamba markets, and then inaugurate the Kaligangsa Bridge on the Brebes-Tegal Ring Road.
