Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo expects that the cooking oil direct cash assistance worth Rp300 thousand will facilitate traders, especially small merchants, such as street vendors.

"This morning, I visit the Angso Duo Market in Jambi City, Jambi Province, in order to allocate cash assistance for cooking oil of Rp300 thousand, which we except it will be able to alleviate (the burden of people), and subsidize the public, especially street vendors, who sell fried foods," the president stated after observing the Angso Duo Baru Market, Jambi, on Thursday, as stated by the Press, Media, and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat.

The head of state noted that the aid will be provided for all provinces across Indonesia and not just Jambi.

The president also gave directives to his staff to ensure that the cooking oil cash assistance could be distributed completely a week prior to Eid.

On top of the cash assistance for cooking oil, President Jokowi also provided Work Capital Assistance worth Rp1.2 million. He informed the recipients that they could use the cash as additional capital.

"Use the Rp1.2 million as additional capital for work. As for the 300 thousand, what is it for?" he asked the merchants.

"To buy cooking oil, Sir," the merchants replied.
