We will ready (the parking bays), yet their operation would fall under the police's discretion. Furthermore, we will install portable toilets as additional facilities over the MBZ Skyway
Bekasi, West Java (ANTARA) - An official of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) Skyway over the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road operator confirmed that parking bays at the skyway will be readied as rest areas for travellers during the Eid exodus.

Elevated toll road operator, PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek, is a subsidiary of state-owned toll road operator company PT Jasa Marga.

"We are committed to ensuring safe and healthy homecoming activities consistent with the government's instruction," President Director of PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek Hari Pratama stated here on Friday.

The parking bay is a special facility that could be used by travellers passing over the 36.4-kilometre MBZ Skyway to rest for a while to avoid travel fatigue that may cause accidents, he remarked.

A total of four parking bays -- two parking bays for each direction -- would be readied, the president director noted, adding that the opening of the parking bays will be under the police's discretion.

"We will ready (the parking bays), yet their operation would fall under the police's discretion. Furthermore, we will install portable toilets as additional facilities over the MBZ Skyway," Pratama noted.

Meanwhile, Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head Dwimawan Heru urged travellers looking to join the Eid exodus to monitor their health and vehicle conditions before commencing their travel.

"To avoid heavy traffic, we suggest travellers to venture outside the homecoming and return peak periods," he stated.

Jasa Marga also urged travellers to ensure vehicle roadworthiness as well as sufficient electronic card balance for smooth toll payment and vehicle fuel before travel, the corporate group head noted.

"Always observe health protocols and travel requirements, as regulated by the government, and road signs, particularly while passing construction sites," Heru remarked.

He noted that travellers could access Jasa Marga's 24-hour call centre at 14080 for inquiries related to the toll road or install the Travoy 3.0 mobile travel assistant that provides toll road information and emergency contacts.
