Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Cathedral limited the number of members congregating to attend the Good Friday celebrations in person at the cathedral to only 1,105 people, or some 75 percent of its total capacity.

"Since Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) are implemented at Level 2, the Jakarta Archdiocese has set the maximum (capacity of the cathedral) at 75 percent,” Public Relations Officer of the Jakarta Cathedral and Archdiocese Susyana Suwadie noted here on Friday.

Suwadie remarked that out of the figure, as many as 355 people joined the worship inside the cathedral, 330 people at the Plaza Maria, while 420 people at the Yohannes Hall. Both the plaza and hall are also located in the cathedral complex.

Only those who had earlier registered through the Jakarta Archdiocese's BelaRasa website were allowed to attend the worship in person, she stated.

The congregation members should also ensure to be in good health.

"The Jakarta Archdiocese is committed to curbing the transmission of COVID-19. Hence, the implementation of strict health protocols is mandatory," the officer emphasized.

Every seat inside the church has also been arranged, and physical distancing signs have been placed on them.

"Today, we have entered the second day of the Holy Triduum when the Good Friday service is taking place," Suwadie added.

The Holy Triduum is included in the series of the 2022 Easter Holy Week celebration that started since Palm Sunday (10 April), Maundy Thursday (14 April), Good Friday (15 April), Easter Night (16 April), to Easter Day (17 April).

The Good Friday worship at the Jakarta Cathedral was conducted thrice.

The first one was implemented online at 12:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB). Meanwhile, the second and third ones were conducted in a hybrid manner at 3 p.m. WIB and 6 p.m. WIB respectively.

Some 100 police, military, as well as Public Order and Security Agency (Satpol PP) personnel were securing the implementation of the Good Friday worship at several access points to the cathedral.
