Depok, W Java (ANTARA) - The COVID-19 pandemic impelled the University of Indonesia (UI) to become an entrepreneurial university that supports its self-resilience to develop researches for the general public, its rector stated.

In a written statement released on Saturday, UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro affirmed that the COVID-19 pandemic situation and the existing dynamics have prompted UI to become an entrepreneurial university.

To that end, the university will hold the UI Investment & Start Up Forum 2022 aimed at realizing cooperation with domestic and foreign institutional investors in the field of research and dedication to the public, he remarked.

"The activity also accommodates the need to downstream product innovations. Hopefully, it would help the country become a hub for the development of start-ups at the Southeast Asian level," he elaborated.

In addition, the activity will support the university's self-reliance in developing researches useful for the general public. The series of programs also aim to integrate various interests from researchers, research institutions within UI, start-ups in the public, and investors.

"We hope capital vendors would assist youths in investing in start-up(businesses) as part of the efforts to help start-ups make creations and develop start-up businesses," he noted.

The UI rector expressed hope that the university's innovations would be useful for start-ups and draw attention of proper investors. He also expected that the forum would be able to support the growth of start-ups in Indonesia.
