"The extension of the Java-Bali PPKM this time only concerns changes in the number of regions at each PPKM level and the operating time of shopping centers for MSME activities," Safrizal, the ministry's director general for regional administration development, stated via an electronic message on Tuesday.
He expressed gratitude since these changes indicate that the process of dealing with COVID-19 in Indonesia is going in the right direction.
In the regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 22 of 2022, no regions are set at level 4. The number of regions at level 1, which is the lowest level of restrictions, has increased from the previous 20 regions to 29 regions.
The number of regions at level 2 decreased from 99 regions to 97 regions, and the number of regions at level 3 reduced from nine regions to two regions.
In the middle of the holy month of Ramadan, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases showed a downward trend, as vaccination rates in various regions were up, he remarked.
The home affairs minister has extended the PPKM implementation from April 18 to May 9, 2022, for the Java-Bali region.
The extension is stipulated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 22 of 2022.
The government lauds all people that supported its efforts by strictly applying health protocols, he noted.
"In addition, we hope that during Eid al-Fitr, we would continue to comply with health protocols for personal safety, family safety, and the safety of the nation and state," he added.
