Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir prepared as many as 40 thousand food packages for the low-cost market at seven points in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

Special Staff for the SOEs Minister Arya Sinulingga stated that the low-cost market was held owing to Minister Thohir's concern for the community.

"During this Ramadan month, we want to share with the community that has been supporting us this far. We hope this low-cost market would help them during this holy month," Sinulingga noted in a written statement here, Wednesday.

The minister later explained that the low-cost market points for the distribution were in Central Jakarta, East Jakarta, West Jakarta, Bekasi, Depok, Tangerang, and South Tangerang.

The SOEs low-cost market provides affordable basic food packages containing one-liter cooking oil, five kg of rice, and one kg of sugar, worth Rp65 thousand. The affordable basic food packages that are sold are expected to become a solution for the community to enter the month of Ramadan in the midst of the rising prices of basic necessities, Sinulingga stated.

Sinulingga was glad to see the community's enthusiasm for purchasing affordable food packages. In fact, some one thousand affordable basic food packages were sold in three hours.

This low-cost market activity was provided by synergy among 19 SOEs through the ID Food entity.

The SOEs low-cost market activity is a series of activities for the Bersih Movement (Giving and Loving) with the SOEs minister, including the Ramadhan Safari with SOEs Millennials, mosque assistance, and religious activities within the SOEs Ministry.

One of the buyers from the low-cost market, Uje, stated that the basic food items at the market helped to ease the burden on the community.

"As a driver for an online motorcycle taxi service, I am helped by this low-cost market. I hope more people would gain benefit and be helped by this activity," he noted.
