The event was titled "Women in Digital Entrepreneurship" (WiDE). It has become an annual routine since 2021, and the event is part of the Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA) Program initiated by the Research and Human Resources Development Agency at the Communication and Information Technology Ministry.
"This aims to increase the capacity of women as entrepreneurs by teaching the use of digital services, with (subjects) taught, such as digital financial planning, digital marketing, and exports through applications to efficient business management from home," Research and Human Resources Development Agency at the Communication and Information Technology Ministry, Hary Budiarto, stated during the event conducted through online and offline means and broadcast from Tangerang on Thursday.
Budiarto remarked that the number of participants in the 2022 WiDE event had tripled as compared to the previous year, thereby indicating that Indonesian women's interest in contributing to the state had increased, not only to the local economy but also on a national scope.
The sheer enthusiasm of women currently was expected to boost their competitiveness in terms of the digital business sector against their male counterparts, thereby promoting equality and diminishing the gap.
Apart from capacity building, this training aimed to encourage businesses developed by women to get better access to capital by educating the entrepreneurs in digital financial management.
The program also aimed to appeal to more women to delve into entrepreneurship that would in turn allow them to contribute to national economic growth.
The training program also served as a concrete evidence of the commitment to one of the three important agendas issued by Indonesia for the G20 Presidency, thereby setting an example for other countries to follow.
