Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir launched the Respectful Workplace Policy (RWP) on the sidelines of an event for greeting Srikandi BUMN (Women of SOEs) on Kartini Day.

"We talk every day. There are individuals who want to make a difference, and women make a tremendous 'nucleus' for change. But if it is not implemented properly, it is a lie," Thohir said at the launch of the Respectful Workplace Policy implementation at the Telkom Landmark Tower in Jakarta on Thursday.

The Respectful Workplace Policy promulgated by the Ministry of SOEs could bring about significant changes, not only for state-owned enterprises but also for Indonesia, he added.

Therefore, he said, the slogan of Srikandi BUMN for this year’s Kartini Day commemoration, namely "Flying High to Achieve Achievement,” is not only symbolic, but is expected to become a reality.

Head of Srikandi BUMN, Tina T. Kemala Intan, said that the SOEs Minister has opened up opportunities for women from SOEs to have better careers through the Respectful Workplace Policy, which prohibits violence and discrimination.

Women of SOEs must be able to answer these challenges with achievements.

"In every BUMN, there is Srikandi BUMN. Together, we will build this and monitor. So, there are fields that are indeed tasked with conducting studies, reviews, and providing inputs to the ministry related to the policy," she said.

As a concrete step to prevent acts of violence in SOEs after the ratification of the bill on the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS), the Minister of SOEs issued Circular Letter Number SE-3/MBU/04/2022 regarding the Respectful Workplace Policy on April 14, 2022.

To maintain productivity at work, the SOEs Ministry is committed to creating a mutually respectful work environment that is free from discrimination, exclusion or restriction, harassment, bullying, and other forms of violence and which upholds dignity and self-respect, Intan said.

This is in line with the main value of SOEs, namely morality, and it also follows up on the National Action Plan for Human Rights (RANHAM), in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 53 of 2021 concerning the National Action Plan for Human Rights for 2021–2025.

In addition to the RWP, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir said that his ministry is also paying attention to the needs of persons with disabilities, gender equality, and preventing bias and discrimination against women in BUMN, BUMN subsidiaries, and BUMN groups.

He also asked all directors to provide equal opportunities to men and women to work at all positions in companies.
