“Five main issues will be discussed in this first meeting. This meeting is the first event before the G20 Culture Ministers' Meeting in September," Farid noted at a media briefing on Friday.
The five main issues to be discussed at the meeting, with attendees comprising representatives from 30 countries, comprised the role of culture as a driver of sustainable living; the economic, environmental, and social impacts of culture-based policies; and cultural communing, or co-management in cultural resources, that promote sustainable lifestyles at the local level.
The other key topics of discussion pertain to equitable access to cultural and economic opportunities and the mobilization of international resources to mainstream sustainable recovery by initiating a funding mechanism for art and culture restoration that were affected by the pandemic.
Farid remarked that in promoting this new lifestyle, culture played an important role at several levels.

“Various types of knowledge, institutions, cultural expressions, and practices that we have inherited have passed the test of time and have therefore been carried over to modern times. If these various cultural resources are consolidated, then we will have the means to create a more sustainable lifestyle,” he affirmed.
The highlight of the G20 in the Cultural topic is the Culture Ministers' Meeting (CMM) that will be held at the Borobudur Temple, Magelang, Central Java, on September 12-13, 2022. At the meeting, the Directorate General of Culture of the Education and Culture Ministry will conduct a series of activities, including the Cultural Carnival, meeting, G20 concert, and Earth Detox (Ruwatan Bumi).
The Cultural Carnival and the meeting are planned to be attended by two thousand cultural actors, indigenous people, and cultural communities. Meanwhile, the G20 Concert will involve collaborations of musicians from G20 countries.
In addition, Ruwatan Bumi, Student Festival, Indonesia Speaking, International Conference on Indonesian Culture, and various other activities will be held to ensure the success of the Cultural G20 forum.
