Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - A separatist group (KKB) again attacked the Muara Perairan task force post of the Marine Infantry Battalion 3 in Kalikote, Nduga district, Papua province, on Friday evening, leaving one soldier dead and another injured.



The incident came to light only on Saturday morning, and the victims were immediately flown to Timika, Papua, on an Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) Caracal helicopter, spokesperson for the Cendrawasih Regional Military Command, Lieutenant Colonel Herman Taryaman, said here on Saturday.



The body of the slain soldier, identified as non-commissioned officer Dwi Miftahul Ahyar, will later be flown to his hometown in Lamongan, East Java, for burial, Taryaman informed.

The injured soldier was identified as Major Lilik Cahyanto.



The incident is the latest in a series of similar attacks in recent months.



On March 26, 2022, the Egianus Kogoya-led separatist group attacked the Mupe task force post in Kwareh Bawah, Nduga, leaving two soldiers dead and eight others injured.
