We expect that for this homecoming, everyone has to take care of one another as well as keep each other safe and healthy.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - COVID-19 Handling Task Force's behavior change head, Sonny Harry B. Hermadi, has urged people to continue to observe health protocols strictly during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period to protect themselves and others.

"The implementation of this stringent health protocol cannot just be a jargon and lip service, it truly must be done," he remarked during the West Freedom 9 Forum virtual discussion on Monday.

"Because we know that wearing a mask, maintaining distance, and diligently washing our hands is our main form of protection for us to prevent infection," he said.

A surge in cases usually occurs due to low discipline in health protocol observance, high mobility, low vaccination rate, and the emergence of new variants.

During the homecoming period, high mobility will be unavoidable. Hence, other steps need to be taken to prevent infections, such as implementing health protocols and increasing vaccination coverage.

To this end, Hermadi called for self-screening by people so that all individuals who come home can ensure that they are healthy.

In addition, they must prepare themselves by traveling with health protocol equipment, such as hand sanitizers and masks.

"We expect that, after two years, the people will have a better sense of independence and higher awareness," Hermadi remarked.

“We expect that for this homecoming, everyone has to take care of one another as well as keep each other safe and healthy," he added.

Earlier, the government had issued regulations concerning this year’s Eid al-Fitr homecoming.

The regulations were stipulated in the Addendum of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force’s Circulation Letter (SE) No. 16 of 2022 on Domestic Traveling Requirements during the Pandemic.

One of the regulations laid down in the circular is that travelers who have received the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will not have to undergo antigen or RT-PCR tests.
