Everything must be addressed quickly to offer comfort to homecomersLampung (ANTARA) - The Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus flow should be handled in a more responsive manner to ensure that the exodus can run smoothly, according to Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Moeldoko.
"This exodus is not an ordinary situation but extraordinary. Thus, the principles of flexibility and responsiveness must be implemented. Everything must be addressed quickly to offer comfort to homecomers," Moeldoko noted here on Wednesday.
According to the KSP head, related parties are also urged to ready alternative measures if obstacles are encountered in the implementation of the 2022 homecoming exodus.
"Indeed, now, everything has been arranged well. However, it should also be taken seriously to avoid disappointment among people because we cannot anticipate the movement or mobility of people or goods during this homecoming (period)," he stated.

Moeldoko explained that predictions of mobility of up to 85 million people and 235 thousand vehicles during the homecoming period must become a cause for concern.
"As per the report received in Lampung, everything is ready with a mutual cooperation system and by pushing coordination. We laud this preparedness," he emphasized.
According to the KSP data, the ferry route from Merak Port, Banten, to Bakauheni Port, Lampung, is one of the most congested exodus routes that will be crossed by around three to five percent of the total 85 million homecomers in the country for the 2022 Eid exodus.

An increasing trend in the number of passengers and vehicles heading to Bakauheni Port has been recorded since April 17, 2022. At the start of the 2022 homecoming period, the average number of homecomers at Bakauheni Port reached 40 thousand per day. This figure showed an increase in the number of passengers on the Merak-Bakauheni route, which generally only reaches 12 thousand to 15 thousand per day.
Taking note of the improvements in the COVID-19 situation, the Indonesian government has allowed people to travel to their hometowns to celebrate the 2022 Eid al-Fitr.
The trips will be allowed as long as prospective homecomers have completed their primary and booster vaccinations. Those who have not received the booster dose are required to show a negative COVID-19 test result.
