The development of the tourist destinations will be carried out through rebranding the areas as nature tourism sites, management standardization, digitization, provision of additional facilities, product development, and product identity branding.
“We will manage 35 locations independently, and 808 other locations will be managed through a collaboration with forest communities who are members of the Forest Village Community Institution (LMDH)," Perhutani president director Wahyu Kuncoro said at the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT TWC at Graha Perhutani Building, Jakarta, according to an official statement issued on Thursday.
The MoU signing marks the beginning of the environmental tourism objects development in the Perhutani area.

The activity is in line with Perhutani's target to manage tourist destinations in its working area in a professional and sustainable manner as well as bring a positive impact to all stakeholders.
On the same occasion, TWC president director Edy Setijono said that the collaboration will promote the readiness of tourism objects and other supporting components for realizing the surrounding tourism ecosystem.
"Tourism destinations cannot stand alone; their existence must be supported by the surrounding ecosystem. This ecosystem will make the destinations sustainable. This is the basis for our collaborative efforts with various parties and stakeholders," Setijono remarked.
Meanwhile, deputy president director of Injourney, Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, expressed support for subsidiary TWC for developing tourism ecosystems, including forested areas with Perhutani. Injourney is engaged in heritage destination management.
"With the establishment of this agreement, Injourney will not only contribute to forest conservation, but also promote and support Indonesian tourism to return as a driving force for the Indonesian economy by not forgetting the involvement of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs)," he said.
