He conveyed this while issuing a press statement with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the Presidential Palace, Bogor, West Java, on Friday.
"In the marine and fisheries sector, I welcome the participation of Japan in the development of marine and fisheries centers in Natuna and Biak that have been completed," he said.
The President also hailed the commitment from Japan to participate in the development of marine and fisheries centers in Sabang, Aceh, and on the Moa, Saumlaki, and Morotai islands in Maluku.
During his meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, he noted that Indonesia and Japan have agreed to continue to increase cooperation in bilateral trade and investment.
In the trade sector, Indonesia and Japan have agreed to intensify negotiations on the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA) and reduce trade barriers in order to achieve more profits for both countries.
Meanwhile, in the investment sector, Jokowi welcomed the expansion of Japanese automotive companies, such as Toyota and Mitsubishi, which will transform Indonesia into a regional automotive hub.

The President expressed the hope that there will be further new investment from Japan in other sectors, especially energy, cement industry, agricultural technology, and health.
President Jokowi’s meeting with Prime Minister Kishida on Friday in Bogor was a part of a series of overseas working visits by the Japanese premier.
At the meeting, President Jokowi was accompanied by several ministers, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi; Minister of State Secretary, Pratikno; Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto; Minister of Trade, Muhammad Lutfi; Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif; and Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi.
