Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil affirmed that a thorough evaluation will be conducted on issues pertaining to rest areas on toll roads during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr exodus period.

Earlier, Kamil was among the government officials, who urged travelers to not spend too much time in a rest area while travelling on toll roads.

"(This is) because (the rest area's) spaces are limited, but those who need it are many. Some travelers had been queueing up at the toll road's shoulder (to enter the rest area). We have evaluated this issue," the governor remarked on Monday.

Kamil pointed out that the Eid exodus peak period, earlier projected to occur on April 30, was the second issue that will be evaluated, especially for return trips expected in the upcoming days.

"Some 160 thousand vehicles were recorded (to travel) during the peak period on April 29, yet on April 30, we also recorded 160 thousand cars and 140 thousand motorcycles travelling on the same day. The travel peak period had since passed on April 30, and we will evaluate this for the upcoming return trips," Kamil noted.

Meanwhile, the governor confirmed that no issues were reported during the Eid al-Fitr prayers organized in some 56 thousand places in the province.

"According to the most recent report this morning, the Eid al-Fitr prayer has been organized smoothly in 56 thousand places registered by the authority, either in community fields, mosques, or other places," he stated.

Kamil also remarked that no security threats were reported during the eve of Eid al-Fitr on Sunday (May 1), as the provincial authority had prohibited street parades to celebrate the end of Ramadan and urged residents to focus the celebration at local mosques instead.

Regarding his activities on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, the governor said that he and his wife, Atalia Praratya Kamil, would visit some individuals.

"After this, I will visit my mother. Praise be to God, she is still healthy now. I will also visit former West Java Governor Solihin GP, who is currently still healthy too," he remarked.
