We are coordinating with the Bogor Police Force to implement a one-way system so that (congestion) in Cianjur and Bogor (areas) is reduced
Cianjur, West Java (ANTARA) - The Cianjur Police Department on Wednesday implemented a one-way system to Bogor, effective from the Puncak Pass area to the Ciawi Toll Road, as part of an effort to ease traffic congestion.

Chief of the Cianjur Police Department Adjunct Senior Commissioner Doni Hermawan said that the one-way system was implemented in the late afternoon after the line-up of vehicles reached up to 15 kilometers.

"We are coordinating with the Bogor Police Force to implement a one-way system so that (congestion) in Cianjur and Bogor (areas) is reduced. (Depending on the) situation, (the policy will be implemented) until the evening around 10 p.m. local time," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The increase in the number of vehicles on the Cianjur route was due to people traveling on vacation and travelers returning after the Eid exodus, although the number of the latter was not much.

People joining the return Eid flow predominantly used two-wheeled vehicles and were headed for Bogor and beyond. Thus, police conducted various efforts to anticipate traffic jams from morning to evening, including by blocking a number of places prone to traffic congestion on the main Cianjur route.

"We conducted some traffic flow methods from morning to evening before the one-way system was implemented at dusk. A number of hotspots causing traffic jams were barred by officers and the team on the main Cianjur route," he informed.

He said that his administration has not been able to estimate the duration of the current heavy traffic flow, but several traffic methods, including the one-way system, would be used extensively to reduce traffic snarls until a week after Eid.
