The only operational (part of) Terminal 1 is 1A, but anticipating the increase in the return flow, we have prepared Terminal 1B
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) has made preparations to operate Terminal 1B of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in case of a hike in the Eid return flow, which has been predicted for May 7–9, 2022.

"The only operational (part of) Terminal 1 is 1A, but anticipating the increase in the return flow, we have prepared Terminal 1B," Terminal 1 Eid post coordinator at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Miftahul Ulum said here on Wednesday.

According to Ulum, currently, Terminal 1A is crowded with passengers traveling on various airlines.

Earlier, operations at Terminal 1 operations were temporarily suspended during the pandemic, but as passenger numbers began to increase at the airport, especially during Eid this year, Terminal 1 was re-opened, though partially through Terminal 1A, he said.

Meanwhile, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport have been filled with passengers during Eid.

Hence, AP II will prepare the airport as well as possible for welcoming the peak of the return flow, starting Wednesday (May 4, 2022), Ulum emphasized.

"We have prepared (the terminal) although today, (the number of passengers) is still insignificantly inclining," he said.

Based on ANTARA's monitoring, the movement of passengers in the departure area of Terminal 1A remained quite normal from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. local time.

Meanwhile, at Terminal 2, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the passenger movement was quite dense, especially in the arrivals area.

AP II data recorded 303 flight movements at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, comprising 204 departure flights and 99 arrival flights, between 12 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The highest number of departure flights was 38, which were scheduled for 6 a.m., while the most arrival flights were recorded at 27, which were scheduled at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.
