The head of Jatinegara sub-district's Community Unit (RW) 1, Maju Saiman, said that he had been informed by the provincial authority about the residential area revitalization design, and Governor Anies Baswedan visited the market on Monday (May 3).
"I understood that the house plan they showed us is similar to (that of houses in) Kampung Melayu (South Jakarta) or Senen Market (Central Jakarta) area," he informed here on Wednesday.

He also said that the residential area revitalization will involve the construction of stilted houses, similar to residential areas in Kampung Pulo, South Jakarta.
Residents of Gembrong Market area will prepare themselves before the revitalization process commences next week, the community unit head added.
"We will help only by cleaning the roads because we are afraid our work will overlap with the government if we clean more deeply (in the residential area). We also have no idea whether the (building contour) will be elevated or lowered," Saiman said.

Earlier, Governor Baswedan had visited the Gembrong Market area to review conditions after the devastation caused by the fire.
On his Instagram account @aniesbaswedan, the governor asked residents affected by the fire to voice their concerns and make suggestions to ensure their needs are fulfilled by the authority.

As many as 400 homes and shops in the Gembrong Market area of East Jakarta, which is known for the trade of children's toys and accessories, were destroyed in a fire on the evening of April 24.
