Today's market operation that was conducted by PTPN VII demonstrates the presence of state-owned enterprises and their contribution to stabilising the prices of food commodities in markets
Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA) - Minister of State-owned Enterprises Erick Thohir lauded the market operation conducted by Lampung-based state agriculture company PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII (PTPN VII) as an effort to balance the prices of food commodities in markets.

"Today's market operation that was conducted by PTPN VII demonstrates the presence of state-owned enterprises and their contribution to stabilising the prices of food commodities in markets," Thohir noted here on Tuesday.

The minister remarked that several basic food commodities available during the market operation are cooking oil, sugar, and rice.

"Cooking oil and sugar that could be afforded under the market price standard today also demonstrates the synergy between state-owned enterprises and regional governments to ensure affordable products for the people," he remarked.

He affirmed that state-owned enterprises will continue to synergize with relevant authorities to assist the people, especially to address product supply issues.

"Amidst the surging commodity prices, the market operation is our intervention measure to balance the market, as we want to ensure that the people's basic food needs are met without any hindrance," the minister noted.

Thohir remarked that state-owned enterprises were tasked with distributing basic food commodity products affordable under the market prices to alleviate the residents' concerns.

"We sell the premium-package cooking oil for Rp19 thousand (US$1.3) for a litre, sugar for Rp11 thousand (US$0.75) a kilogram, and rice for Rp15 thousand (US$1.03) for each 2.5-kilogram package. State-owned enterprises do not profit from the market operation because our focus (on this program) is to help the people," he remarked.

For the market operation organised by PTPN VII, some 7.5 tons of sugar, two thousand litres of cooking oil, and one hundred 2.5-kilogram rice sacks are available for residents, he added.
