Sutanto confirmed that the immigration office no longer conducted an investigation of the human trafficking case since it had been done by the Sangihe district police.

The immigration office is currently making preparations for the deportation of the seven Filipinos, he added.

Earlier, Chief of the Sangihe District Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Denny Tompunuh remarked that the seven Filipinos were identified by their initials as MG alias Merry, SF alias Sari, JFC alias Jinky, ADP alias Arjil, VAM alias Kening, GLP alias Helen, and JAG alias Juns.

The seven Filipinos had no legal rights to enter the Indonesian territory, as they did not carry immigration documents and had not entered Indonesia through an authorized immigration checkpoint, with the objective of being exploited in Indonesia or other countries.

"The people (who have been named suspects in the case) originally planned to send the seven Filipinos to the Middle East to work as (illegal) workers," he remarked.
