I express my gratitude to the minister, who quickly handled FMD in the last week. At least, the presence of the minister gives encouragement to our people to not worry and not hesitate in dealing with this situation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of Commission IV of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sutrisno commended the efforts made by the Ministry of Agriculture in handling the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in livestock.

Those efforts encompass the provision of medicines and assistance to farmers being carried out responsively in almost all regions.

"I express my gratitude to the minister, who quickly handled FMD in the last week. At least, the presence of the minister gives encouragement to our people to not worry and not hesitate in dealing with this situation," he noted in a statement here on Thursday.

According to Sutrisno, the agriculture minister had lent assurance to the people that FMD is not a disease that has a negative impact on human health. The disease can be cured through collaboration and synergy of all parties, including regional leaders across Indonesia.

"I ensure that all forces in the government, especially the Ministry of Agriculture, more specifically the Directorate General of Livestock, continue to move to anticipate FMD," he emphasized.

He stressed that FMD has a high recovery rate and low mortality rate.
